Personal Development Curriculum

Nurturing Confident, Healthy and Principled Individuals

At Wrenmere International Online School, we believe that education should extend far beyond academic achievement. Alongside intellectual development, students should be given the opportunity to develop the confidence, self-awareness, resilience, and sense of personal responsibility needed to flourish throughout life.

Our Personal Development curriculum provides a carefully considered programme of PSHE and Physical Educationfrom Year 1 through to Year 11. These subjects form an important part of the wider curriculum for our full-time students, ensuring that personal wellbeing, healthy living, physical development, and social understanding remain central to a well-rounded Wrenmere education.

Through age-appropriate learning, thoughtful discussion, and opportunities for reflection, students are encouraged to understand themselves, respect others, make informed decisions, and develop the confidence to navigate the opportunities and challenges they may encounter as they grow.

A Well-Rounded Education

Personal Development Beyond Qualifications

At Wrenmere, we believe that some of the most valuable aspects of education cannot always be measured by an examination.

For this reason, PSHE and Physical Education are included as additional subjects alongside art, music, and drama, within the curriculum for our full-time students from Year 1 through to Year 11. While they are not studied as IGCSE qualifications, these subjects form an important part of the wider educational experience we provide.

PSHE creates opportunities for students to develop self-awareness, emotional intelligence, personal responsibility, and an understanding of the world around them. Physical Education encourages healthy habits, confidence in movement, resilience, and an appreciation for the importance of lifelong physical wellbeing.

Together, these subjects reflect our belief that education should support the development of the whole individual, not only preparing students for examinations, but also helping them to grow into confident, thoughtful, healthy, and principled young people.

Why Personal Development Matters

Academic knowledge provides an important foundation for future success, but the ability to understand oneself, build positive relationships, make thoughtful decisions, and maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle is equally valuable.

Throughout their Personal Development journey, students are encouraged to develop qualities that will remain with them long after they leave the classroom: confidence, resilience, empathy, independence, responsibility, and respect for others.

By combining PSHE and Physical Education throughout the Primary and Secondary years, Wrenmere seeks to provide students with the opportunity to develop both personally and physically alongside their academic education.

At Wrenmere, we believe that true educational success is not defined solely by what a student knows, but also by the confidence, character, and sense of purpose with which they move forward.
